Prism Weave: When Tartan Meets Vaporwave
Prism Weave is a collection born at the crossroads of two very different worlds: the centuries-old tradition of tartan weaving and the futuristic pulse of vaporwave.
Tartan, also known as plaid, is a patterned cloth defined by crossing horizontal and vertical bands in multiple colours, creating repeating symmetrical checks. For Prism Weave, I took this structure as the foundation, then twisted it into something new: gradients, overlays, and color shifts that echo the woven fabric but push it into unexpected territory.
The color story draws directly from vaporwave aesthetics and music. While developing the prints, I immersed myself in vaporwave tracks, and you can feel that dreamy, retro-futuristic energy in the palette: neon pinks, blues, aqua tones, and purples. It’s a vibrant clash of nostalgia and futurism, tradition and digital glitch.
